Where are you from and where are you now? — I am from a seaside town that is a suburb of Vancouver. It’s well-manicured, and its people have white teeth. I now live in the city in a community that I love. I really want my children to be raised around a lot of diversity and have bus passes. — How would you describe your work and creative process? — My figurative work is about empathizing with what it means to be human, in these bodies that have limitations and how our emotional lives sometimes overwhelm or override our bodies. — What is your favorite movie without naming it? — He draws her; she smokes and takes off all of her clothes. When she gets in the cab she can’t be blamed for being never shown the sunlight. — What advice would you tell your 15-year-old self? — You are beautiful and powerful beyond what you currently believe. — Apart from creation, what other things do you like to do? — I like to jog. I really like to drink wine with my friends and talk about our feelings. I like to make out with my husband. One of my favorite things is to be taken into the amazing world of my children’s imagination. I like planning things.
